2011 ‘Aron’s Run’ News
Thank you
Aron and his family want to say thank you to everyone who made this a day to remember for Aron
Lancefield Motorcycle Run 2011 “Aron’s Run”. What a day, over 260 registered riders and a number of cars, great weather and great bunch of people which all culminated in a fantastic days riding, We raised a lot of money, the final figure was $22,000 dollars, with all money being donated to Aron. Aron now has the much needed special wheelchair he thought he would never be able to afford, makes it all worthwhile, knowing that we can combine our love of riding our bikes and making a difference to someone who really needs it, makes you feel all warm & fuzzy inside…
Aron and his family would like to thank everyone who made effort to make this a special day for Aron and wanted to let you all know that this money will make a huge difference to his life, thank you one and all for being so open and generous. Aron and his family have already told us they will be back next year to help make it a special day for our next worthy cause.
The day started with some fantastic help from our many local and loyal volunteers with the local Lancefield lions club cooking over 250 serves of a sumptuous hot egg and bacon breakfast. Riders kept arriving right up until the 10am take off time. We gave away the $250 cash and some other great prizes for those who pre-registerd and paid before the ride. We encourage everyone to pre-register early for the 2012 ride, not only for the great prizes but to help us coordinate and cater for the days activities.
This ride is becoming a regular calendar event with many familiar faces of the riders attending for their fourth, third or second time and also, many first time riders, a real family affair, also in attendance was little Eliza (2009 ride) we just cant keep her away and why would we want to, after all according to her it’s her ride too, priceless!
First stop was the Royal Hotel Seymour with mine hosts Shane & Dianne, the weather, hospitality and assistance of the Seymour lions club for hot tea & coffee were fantastic and much appreciated.
Next stop was the Flowerdale Hotel with Steve & Viv allowing us to take over there back garden area. This is a magnificent place to visit and i encourage everyone to return for a bistro or counter meal throughout the year. The BBQ Steaks n Sausages was cooked to perfection and comments received were all very favourable, a round of applause was heard from the crowd for the effort from our volunteers, thank you.
The weather looked like it would turn nasty, but after a short shower it quickly moved on and did not affect us again, then it was off to Rattlers Hotel, East Wallan. Host Wendy supplied a fantastic band, we held an Auction, drew the raffle $500 wheelbarrow winner and we drew the $1000 cash draw (Winning # 239). Sheree (2010 ride) and her family also popped in for a visit.
All in all a fantastic day’s ride, fantastic people, lots of kids and families joined in the activities and a memorable day and a day Aron and his family have told us they will cherish and always remember.
Lots of event T-Shirts, stubby holders and merchandise were purchased and added to the days colour.
Throughout the day there was plenty of filming and photos taken from the Helicopter and on the ground all of which was used to produce a high quality DVD of the day’s ride.
